When I first gave my life to Christ, I felt both new and free. However, I quickly realized that transformation wasn’t just about changing my behavior; it was about healing, growing, and learning how to navigate life with a fresh perspective. During that time, God brought a mentor into my life—someone who had walked a similar path and could offer wisdom and encouragement. Her guidance was invaluable, and every conversation helped me become the person God was calling me to be.
As life does, things began to shift. My mentor’s schedule grew busier, and while I respected her commitments, I found myself feeling a bit lost. The one-on-one guidance I had leaned on became less frequent, and I realized I was in need of more sustained, focused support. But I came to understand that this shift wasn’t a sign of failure; it was an invitation to grow in a new way.
I began to see that God doesn’t expect us to walk through life alone. He often provides resources for us to grow in different seasons. Last year, I took a significant step by committing to therapy. It was one of the most transformative decisions I’ve made. Therapy gave me the space to address past wounds, confront emotional struggles, and gain the tools I needed to navigate life more effectively. I learned that caring for my mental health is just as important as nurturing my spiritual health, and that healing often requires us to take a hard look at ourselves.

Through therapy, I learned that seeking help isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of strength. It’s about facing painful truths and allowing God to work in us through healing. I gained insights into my patterns, relationships, and fears that had kept me from moving forward.
As time passed, I realized I still needed someone to help me organize my thoughts, set clear priorities, and address mindset struggles. That’s when I decided to work with a certified coach. It wasn’t just about practical help with my goals—it was about shifting the way I was thinking. My coach is helping me reframe my thoughts and tackle limiting beliefs that had kept me stuck in indecision and self-doubt. Together, we’re working on strategies to move me forward with clarity and confidence.
I’ve also reflected on those who’ve mentored me, especially my mentor. She has poured so much of herself into others for years, offering wisdom, love, and support. It has been beautiful to watch, and now, I’m seeing her take time to invest in herself for a change. She’s prioritizing her own growth, a reminder that we must refill our own cups in order to continue pouring into others. It’s a powerful example of how growth requires intentional care in every season.
This journey has reinforced that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but of maturity and self-awareness. God has placed resources—mentors, coaches, therapists, friends, and family—around us to help us grow. Whether it’s to heal, set clearer goals, or overcome mindset struggles, there’s no shame in reaching out for support. In fact, it’s part of becoming who God has called us to be.
In a world that values independence and self-sufficiency, it can feel like seeking support is a failure. But that’s a lie. God has designed us for community and growth, and He provides the help we need through others. Even Jesus had people around Him for support. If Jesus needed a community, so do we.
If you’ve been hesitant to seek help, don’t let fear or pride keep you from the support God has placed in your life. Whether you need therapy, a mentor, a coach, or simply a friend, there’s no shame in asking for help. It’s a step toward healing and growth.
So, if you’ve been putting off getting the support you need—whether to organize your life, heal, or address mindset struggles—I encourage you to take that step. Don’t wait for the perfect time. Seek the help you need today, and trust that God will use it to help you grow and move forward. You don’t have to have it all figured out on your own. God has provided the resources; now it’s up to you to step into them.
Embrace the help you need, let go of excuses, and step into the fullness of God’s plan for your life.
You are not alone in this journey, and God is with you every step of the way.
