My Mustard Seed Has A Lot More Mountains to Move

Let me just start by saying: I love Jesus — but I also come with a little (okay, a lot) of attitude. Like… holy with a hint of “don’t try me.” And yet, somehow, God still chooses to use me. Isn’t that wild?

I once heard the scripture quoted, “All you need is faith the size of a mustard seed” (Luke 17:6). And I thought, “Good, because that’s about all I’ve got today.” But what they don’t tell you is that sometimes that mustard seed shows up with a mountain-sized attitude, a sprinkle of sarcasm, and a heaping side of stubbornness.

Yet God’s not intimidated by that. Not even a little.

Work in Progress, Not a Lost Cause

It’s comforting to know that God isn’t looking for perfect people — He’s looking for willing ones. People who are honest enough to say, “I believe… but I’ve got some edge. Some trauma. Some triggers. And some healing to do.”

The good news? He’s not scared of your edge. In fact, He’s the only One who knows exactly how to soften it without breaking you.

Faith Is Messy Sometimes

Let’s be honest — some days you’re walking on water, and some days you’re trying not to drown in your own tears. Some days you’re praying for others, and some days you’re praying they leave you alone before you say something ungodly. (Whew.)

That little mustard seed doesn’t always look impressive, but God can grow a whole garden out of it. You don’t need to have it all together. Just keep showing up — even if it’s with a sigh and a side-eye.

When Your Personality Needs a Little Sanctifying

I’ll admit, I’m not always the easiest to work with — especially when God starts touching areas I’ve kindly asked Him to leave alone. But growth doesn’t happen in the comfortable. Sometimes God has to pull the attitude out by the roots to make room for the fruit of the Spirit.

I mean… couldn’t He just ask nicely? But no, He’s over here pruning like, “Let’s get that bitterness out. And that pride. Oh, and that need to always be right? Yep, that too.”

Rude. But necessary.

When the Mountain Still Looks Like a Mountain

Here’s the thing — in my experience, you can’t always see the mountain moving. That mustard seed of faith can absolutely move mountains — that’s not just a metaphor — but in the process, it rarely feels that dramatic.

Sometimes the mountain shifts slowly. Quietly. Invisibly. You might be praying, hoping, believing… and still wondering if anything’s happening at all. But just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not moving.

Faith isn’t just about believing the mountain will move — it’s about continuing to walk, work, and worship while it still looks like it’s standing still. Because faith without works is dead. So even when the progress feels invisible, you’ve got to keep going.

He’s Still Working On Me

There’s beauty in the fact that I am not who I used to be, but I’m also not who I’m going to be. I’m somewhere in between, with a little bit of spice and a whole lot of grace.

And I think that’s the point — God doesn’t wait until we’ve arrived to love us, use us, or call us. He walks with us through the sarcasm, the sighs, the sass, and the sanctification.

So if you’re reading this thinking, “Girl, same,” just know — your attitude doesn’t disqualify your anointing. But God will shape it. Gently… or with a holy chisel, depending on the day.

Let’s End With This:

If your faith feels small and your personality feels… extra, you’re in good company. Jesus is not overwhelmed by your mess — He’s just excited to make something beautiful out of it.

That mustard seed? It’s just the start of something holy.
